While some people love shoes, I love handbags and when I was recently invited by Dior to personally view the new Dior Lady Art 3 handbag collection, I was in handbag heaven.

The Lady Dior bag is a timeless icon of the fashion world and the favourite handbag of the late Princess Diana. The bag was gifted to Lady Diana when she visited Paris and she too fell in love with the bag, often being photographed with it and ordering it in all sizes, the bag was subsequently named the Lady Dior in her honour.

These exquisite Dior handbags are actually works of art with each bag comprising of one hundred and forty four pieces of leather in total, stitched in a symbolic cannage motif, standing rectangular and rigid, with the D-I-O-R letters and the Dior logo suspended from the handle as charms.

For the third year the house of Dior has invited artists to reinterpret their iconic bag and for the first time ever only female artists were commissioned.

Eleven artists were chosen from around the world to whom Dior gave total control comprising a selection of different generations and nationalities including artists from Colombia, Turkey, South Korea, China, United States, France and Japan. All artists pushed the limits of excellence changing up everything from fabric and materials to colour and charms.

A limited number of these works of art were produced and an even smaller number available in Australia. The Brisbane Dior store was lucky to receive a selection of the bags with some selling out before landing on the floor.

Dior invites you to view the bags for yourself, let me know which one is your favourite?
