Experience the food and wine of the Scenic Rim at Eat Local Week from 30 June to 8 July 2018. This fabulous event on Brisbane’s doorstep celebrates the food, farmers and natural beauty of the Scenic Rim region through a program of festivals, farm gate events and culinary experiences.
The Scenic Rim is located 80km, or about one hour’s drive, from Brisbane and Eat Local Week asks visitors and locals to consider their food and wine choices and recognise the vast array of products available on their doorstep while providing an insight into how our fresh food is produced.
Eat Local Week connects consumers with farmers and highlights the benefits of sourcing food that’s in-season and close to the source.
The 9 day event features a smorgasbord of experiences for foodies and plenty of free and low-cost activities for children and families, including farm tours, cooking classes, producer dinners and opportunities to meet the farmers and taste their wares.
With school holidays taking place during Eat Local Week why not organise a family drive to the country and let the little ones experience farm life with a selection of activities ranging from eating local food, visiting farms, cuddling animals, picking carrots and meeting the farmers. Explore the range of family friendly activities here but be quick and book your favourites and if you’d like to spend the night in the country there is a range of accommodation options that you can view here.
Eat Local Week culminates in the signature Winter Harvest Festival event. It’s a celebration of food, wine and farming with live music, fresh produce, cooking demonstrations and plenty of good old fashioned country hospitality, the perfect day out for foodies and families.
