The glorious New Farm Park rose gardens are a favourite haunt of mine and they are set to continue to bloom for years to come with the Brisbane City Council recently announcing some wonderful news.

Brisbane’s blooming beautiful and iconic New Farm Park is set to undergo beautification as Council announce works to further enhance the park’s rose gardens starting the week commencing April 23, 2018.

The New Farm Park rose gardens project forms part of the Lord Mayor’s $2.1 million commitment to the Renewing Great Brisbane Gardens project, which aims to revitalise and beautify two of Brisbane’s iconic gardens for residents and visitors.

With Stage 1 of the rose gardens project completed in August 2017 which included infill planting of approximately 700 roses in the existing garden beds. Stage 2 aims to further enhance the gardens to ensure New Farm Park remains a great place to enjoy Brisbane’s outdoor lifestyle.

Stage 2 works will involve:

 Extending existing rose garden beds
 Constructing new rose garden beds
 Planting approximately 2000 new plants
 Installing a drip irrigation system into existing and new garden beds
 Installing six new arbours
 Associated landscaping works.

See the illustrated map below.

Construction for stage 2 is expected to be complete in August 2018, weather permitting. Works will generally take place between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, however some night works may be required.
