If you’re looking to explore the foodie scene beyond Brisbane you’ve come to right Lady. Standby as I share with you my experiences when I recently dined at 5 Ipswich restaurants.

From burgers to fine dining, coffee to cocktails there is a range of delicious dining options just a short drive from Brisbane, in Ipswich. Hop onto the Ipswich motorway and depending on where you live, within 20 minutes you will arrive in the city of Ipswich, full of fabulous foodie finds, a lot of hidden restaurants and cafes run by hard working families.

My first foodie find that I’m going to share with you, in my short and picturesque style, is Dovetails Restaurant which offers relaxed, modern Australian food with a focus on fresh, quality, local produce and is located in what was once Ipswich’s first TAFE building.

I recommend sitting on the deck under the Poinciana trees overlooking the lovely leafy park but that’s because I’m a lady who loves a view while she eats, otherwise inside seating is also a sight to behold in what was once old woodwork classrooms of the TAFE building.

For lunch I ordered the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, after recommendations from the staff. The gnocchi is house made and pan fried with sage butter, tomato sugo, broccoli, baby chard, feta and hazelnuts. It was simply delicious, a generous serve and a substantial lunch meal.

Next time I visit I’ll be sure to enjoy a drink from Pumpyard Brewery next door.

Let me know if you visit Dovetails Restaurant, I would love to hear what you think.
