Many of you have asked me what is happening at Anzac Square after posting on Instagram yesterday a story showing the works that are currently taking place.
So I did some research and can share with you that the Brisbane City Council are currently undertaking Stage 4 of their Anzac Square restoration and enhancement project which will improve accessibility, enhance the memorial space and improve the visitor experience at the memorial and square.
Stage 4 enhancements will include –
improving accessibility to and through Anzac Square with enhanced pathways and a lift
installing new plants and landscaping, with some unhealthy plants to be replaced
installing new commemorative screens along the walkways
providing a new entrance to the WWI memorial through Anzac Square
improved signage
installing LED lights in the existing heritage light poles
improving seating and paved areas
fitting-out the area which currently houses the post-WWII memorials, for future exhibitions and events
installing interactive technology to allow visitors to learn more about the State’s war memorials.
You can read more about the renovations here.
