Brisbane’s famous Paniyiri Greek Festival is on again this weekend and it’s your opportunity to enjoy and celebrate Brisbane’s Greek community and all things Greek including delicious food, plate smashing, grape stomping and Hellenic dancing.  

 

 

Paniyiri 2017 highlights include the introduction of The Plateia (authentic Greek Village), the 40th anniversary of the Hellenic Dancers, Church Tours and more than 20 hours of entertainment including the return of Greek Dancing with the Stars, the famous ZORBA-Til-You-Drop, Grape Stomping, Olive and Honey Puff Eating Competitions, Spaghetti eating, Plate Smashing, and the great Greek characters, Herc & Xena.

In 2017, festival goers are expected to down some 300,000 Honey Puffs, more than 100,000 Souvlakia, almost 12,000 Dolmades, 20,000 coffees, 1,600 kilograms of grilled Halloumi, 10,000 Shiftalies (Sheftalies) (Greek Cypriot sausage) and 1,000 kilograms of calamari.
