Continuing my ‘Favourite things to do in Brisbane’ series which debuted last month, here is my list of my favourite things to do in Brisbane this May.

Walk the Riverloop

Now that we have kissed those hot summer days goodbye, it’s perfect weather to walk the Riverloop.  Start anywhere that’s convenient for you, perhaps drive and park at the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, then head towards and over the Story Bridge, then left and down onto the path that winds around the front of the Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier. Continue along thru the City Botanic Gardens and over the Goodwill Bridge and then left back towards the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.  It’s a wonderful route to take and soak in the sights of the city and activity on the river whilst being active.

Indulge in Afternoon tea

Enjoy a glass of champagne, dainty sandwiches, scones with jam and cream and a selection of sweet treats at afternoon tea at many Brisbane city hotels. My favourites include the Brisbane Marriott Hotel, Bacchus Restaurant and The Lab Bar & Restaurant at the Treasury Hotel. Whether you are celebrating Mother’s Day, a birthday or for no reason at all afternoon tea is a treat to indulge in during May.

 Explore the Museum of Brisbane

Discover the people, places and stories of our city at the Museum of Brisbane, located in Brisbane City Hall.  Current exhibitions include ‘100% Brisbane’ and ‘Sit Pose Snap’ and with free entry the Museum is a great way to see Brisbane expressed thru traditional and interactive art. Open daily from 10am to 5pm.

Go Greek at Paniyiri

Brisbane’s famous Paniyiri Greek Festival is a May must do. Paniyiri is the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate Brisbane’s Greek community and all things Greek including delicious food and Hellenic dancing.  This year the festival is held Saturday May 20 (from 12 noon) and Sunday May 21 (from 10am) at Musgrave Park and at The Greek Club on Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane.

Catch a Brisbane Lions game

My family love AFL and naturally we support the Brisbane Lions. The season is in full swing by the time the calendar turns to May and going to the Gabba to watch a Lions game is one of our favourite things to do on a May weekend.

Happy May everyone and let me know what you plan to do this month.
