Blooming South Bank

South Bank Parklands is blooming with flowers. Take a tour with me and see what’s on show.

 

 

While the jewel in the crown at South Bank Parklands is definitely The Arbour which is covered in purple Bougainvillea flowers throughout the year, there are many other flowers to admire in the Parklands including these pretty pink Hibiscus which are flowering in the garden beds on the rivers edge along Clem Jones Promanade. 

 

 

Poinsettia trees are putting on a dazzling display of their red flowers at The Plough Inn located on Stanley Street Plaza.

 

 

Vibrant yellow flowering Cassia trees planted along the stretch of parkland known as the Arbour View Cafes look stunning when they flower during the Summer months.

 

 

Bougainvillea flowers in shades of white, pink, purple and orange spill into the Brisbane River along the busy Clem Jones Promenade.

 

The Epicurious Gardens grow a selection of edible plants, vegetables and herbs and there are a sprinkling of flowers growing in the gardens too including some striking sunflowers. 

 

 

My favourite of all the flowers on display at the Parklands is this striking dark pink Frangipani which is planted outside Aquitaine Brasserie one of the prime River Quay restaurants.
