Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is 10 years old this month and you are invited to celebrate their bithday.


To celebrate a decade of bringing art to the people of Brisbane GOMA have unveiled a new exhibition by Queensland Indigenous artist, Judy Watson, the opening of ‘Sugar Spin: you, me, art and everything’, live performances of American Artist, Nick Cave’s, HEARD 2012, hands-on workshops, tours and more.


‘Sugar Spin’ is GOMA’s free exhibition headlining the celebrations. In addition to a brand new commission by Icelandic born, New York based Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, of multi coloured synethic hair titled Nervescape 2016 (see above), the exhibition includes many favourites from the Gallery’s collection.



Favourites include Carsten Höller’s much – loved Left/Right Slide 2010 that spirals visitors from the top to the bottom of GOMA (see above). Céleste Boursier – Mougenot’s musical installation of live finches, from here to ear (v.13) 2010 (see below) and Olafur Eliasson’s interactive installation of thousands of white Lego pieces The cubic structural evolution project 2004 (see below) to name a few.
