Friday flashback to vintage Brisbane of 1880 and the police barracks that were located on Roma Street and erected from 1879-1880.

‘This building provides barrack accommodation for about forty-five men and room for an officer-in-charge. The lower floor contains cells to provide for the use of the station, if needful, as a lockup.’

The barracks closed as a police station in 1967 and were demolished to make way for the Roma Street park area and Turbot Street flyover across Roma Street.
